If I'm honest, one of my absolute favourite things to hear at the end of a family session is this:

"That actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!"

And more often than not… It's Dad saying it.

Now, I get it. When someone says "family photos," it's easy to imagine a heap of awkward poses, forced smiles, and standing still while hoping someone tells you where you should put your hands.

But that's never how my sessions work.

My sessions are intentionally relaxed, fun, and full of movement. 

Instead of having you stand in stiff poses and telling you exactly where to stand perfectly still for an hour… I’ll give you plenty of ideas and gentle direction.

You’ll never feel like you’re performing for the camera as I encourage you to interact and – most importantly – simply enjoy being together.

Your kids might run around, climb onto your shoulders, or hold your hand while we wander. You might share some laughs, or some cuddles.

It’s my job to create space for those real moments to unfold naturally.

Those are the moments worth capturing, after all.

I've photographed enough families over the years to know that dads often arrive at a session feeling a little (or, sometimes, a lot!) unsure.

Some openly admit they're only there because their partner booked the session. Others promise they'll smile for "just a few photos."
