A Magical Sunset Engagement

Sunset proposal on the South Perth Foreshore, capturing the exact moment of surprise and joy

Clinton & Pauline's surprise engagement proposal on the South Perth foreshore.

There's nothing quite like capturing the magic of a surprise engagement proposal, especially when it’s as meticulously planned and heartfelt as Clinton and Pauline's. This session holds a special place in my heart, not just because of the stunning South Perth Foreshore backdrop, but because Pauline, the bride-to-be, is a NICU nurse and a dear friend I've had the pleasure of knowing for quite some time. To add to the excitement, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with the incredible content creator Kristelle, from Creative Projects Media, for this shoot.

A little backstory

Clinton had been secretly planning this unforgettable proposal for months. He went above and beyond, organising a cute little TeePee adorned with all of Pauline's favourite things. His attention to detail was remarkable - he even coordinated Pauline's work to ensure she had the day off, so there would be no distractions from the special moment. The surprise didn't stop there; Clinton arranged for them to stay overnight in the city, complete with a dinner with some work friends, and made sure Pauline had her makeup done under the guise of winning a competition!

The day unfolds

Kristelle and I arrived early to scout the location and witness the beautiful setup created by Yellow Lemon Party. The South Perth Foreshore looked nothing short of spectacular, with clear blue sky and the Swan River sparkling under the sunlight. The plan was for Clinton and Pauline to arrive by ferry from Elizabeth Quay, so Kristelle and I had to stay hidden to avoid spoiling the surprise. Kristelle, ever the undercover agent, stealthily followed them as they got off the ferry, and I joined a group of random girls having a picnic!

As the couple strolled along the foreshore, taking in the stunning view, Clinton led Pauline towards the TeePee. The moment had come, and I could feel the anticipation, praying that I didn't cry, as I positioned myself to capture the big reveal. Clinton knelt down on one knee and proposed, and the surrounding crowd erupted in cheers as they realised what was happening!

Capturing love

It was a moment of pure joy, and I couldn't have been happier for the two of them. Their love for each other was palpable, and it was an absolute honour to capture the emotion and excitement of this beautiful surprise proposal. Clinton and Pauline are truly one of the sweetest couples I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, and I’m thrilled to share their story and stunning images from their unforgettable day.
